You Call Yourself A Writer?!

I used to be afraid to call myself a writer. How dare I take on such a title?
I was a twenty-something chasing everything in 2000s New York City. Then someone told me something simple but life-changing: Writers write.
Not writers need to be published (I am, by the way 😉).
Not writers need to be good.
Just writers write.
F*ck A Moleskin…
Writers write:
On their phones.
In their heads.
On scraps of paper and napkins.
There is no perfect place, no perfect moment. Writing happens wherever words find their way onto a page.
To My Twenty-something self:

I would say: Take care of the writing, and it will take care of you.
Years later, I realize—I have built a life where I get to write every single day. The art of creating emotion in another person using words clustered on a page is intoxicating and fun.
You Are a Writer
I write, therefore I am a writer. And if you write, so are you.
